Citronella Anti Bark Collar Test

Citronella anti bark collar results are reported to rival results with shock collars. We had a chance to personally test a collar since our puppy decided that constant barking was a fun activity. Here's the story.

Our pet is a registered English Cocker Spaniel female named Belle. Now this is a field type dog so as you can probably imagine this is no calm, cool, collected pup. This is instead a hard charging bundle of energy. She's a small dog but acts like a bigger dog.

On top of that, we keep a variety of birds including quail all in close proximity to the dog kennel. Combine the high energy, young bird dog and a variety of poultry, some free ranging, and you have a recipe for noise.

And noise we got.

We tried all kinds of things including lots and lots of socialization. Still the barking just got more and more frequent. Here;s what we decided to try.

We ordered a MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Citronella to try.

What you get is a little small box on a collar. The box includes a bark sensor, a pump and a small reservoir that holds citronella oil. When the collar is turned on, or armed, the dog gets a spray on oil when the barking starts.

Our dog was almost constantly barking. We put on the collar and just left it on for about 2 days without turning it on. That was per the instructions.

Then we turned it on and here's what happened.

Belle barked like normal and the collar pump sprayed. She barked again and it sprayed again and that was it. She stopped right there after two barks.

Let me describe what happens when the collar sprays. The spray forms a dense cloud of mist about a foot in diameter. It's a fine mist sprayed from under the dog's face. It's not directly into the dog's face at all. It's just around the head. It's not a thick cloud. It's mostly surprising and quite smelly. As I said, two wiffs did it.

That was about two months ago and since then here barking has been no problem. We put the collar on just part of the time and then have it turned on only part of the time it is actually on. If uncontrolled barking starts up, the collar goes on and is turned on. The barking stops. Otherwise, she still barks but mostly only when it makes sense.

The MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Citronella is a great tool for working with your pet to stop excessive barking.

It's inexpensive, easy to use and worked on our pet.

A citronella anti bark collar may not work for every dog, but it did for ours. I guess that really hard head dogs that aren't overly bright may need more drastic measures, but for some dogs the MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Citronella is the perfect anti bark solution.
