Ultrasonic Dog Bark Control

One approach to dog bark control is to make it unpleasant for the dog to bark by subjecting the dog to loud noise every time he barks. You actually can get loud noise generators that broadcast loud noise that people can hear when dogs start barking. That seems like a good way to start a war to me if you have neighbors. But maybe it's the neighbors' dog! Perhaps they will get the message and work to keep their dog quiet. Probably not though, chances are if the dog barking is obnoxious the dog owners are unwilling to deal with the dog's barking and will just get mad at you. And if it's your dog, why substitute one kind of noise for another?

So a better approach is ultrasonic sound. That's sound the dog can hear but not people. You can get ultrasonic collars that generate noise when the dog barks. The unpleasant, even painful, noise to the dog will usually stop the barking quickly. That's as long as the collar is on and the batteries are working.

Also you can purchase ultrasonic sound generators that you can use on your dogs or even the neighbors' dogs. Bombard the dogs with painful noise any time the barking racket starts up. This idea sounds good, but reports are that sometimes it works and sometimes not. You may very well waste your money, but it may work.

There is some reason for the excessive barking. Better to find the cause and deal with the real issue instead of using the short-term ultrasonic dog bark control. But if you need some peace and quiet, bombing the dogs with noise may preserve your one little fragile nerve you have left.
